Prime Minister releases commemorative postage stamp on Mother Language Day

  • Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has unveiled a special commemorative postage stamp on the occasion of the Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day-2026 . He released the postage stamp at a brief ceremony organized at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Saturday (February 21) morning.

    This is his first official function at the Tejgaon office as the newly appointed Prime Minister. With this, the administrative work of the office officially began in the presence of the head of government after a long break.

    Upon her arrival at the office at 10:10 am, the Prime Minister was welcomed by Principal Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon. Later, she exchanged greetings with officials and employees at various levels and inquired about their progress—which generated a clear positive response among those present.

    Before starting the official work, the Prime Minister planted a sapling of a golden palm tree in the office premises and participated in a special prayer for peace and prosperity of the country. The ceremony was attended by Defense Advisor Brigadier General (Retd) AKM Shamsul Islam and senior military and civilian officials.

    Those involved in the administration are seeing the launch of a new journey of paying tribute to the language martyrs through the unveiling of commemorative postage stamps as a significant message.
