Next Tuesday (February 17) at 4 pm, President Md. Shahabuddin will administer the oath to the cabinet members. Earlier, the oath-taking of the newly elected members of parliament will be held in the morning.
According to sources in the Cabinet Division and the Parliament Secretariat, all preparations for the event have already begun. After the oath-taking of the members of parliament, the party leader will be elected in a meeting of the parliamentary party. After that, a demand to form the government will be submitted to the President.
Political circles believe that BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is on track to take over as the party’s parliamentary leader and prime minister after winning the highest number of seats in the election.
The government will formally take office with the swearing-in of the new cabinet; at the same time, the activities of the interim government’s advisory council will automatically end.
