Dhaka—Amid the ongoing election campaign in a peaceful and harmonious environment across the country, the government’s main goal is to make the polling day “perfect,” said Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus. According to him, the preparation phase has been completed satisfactorily; the biggest challenge ahead is to keep the voting process error-free.
Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, after a high-level meeting on election preparations at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday night, presented the statement of the Chief Advisor. He said that a positive change in the political culture is evident – the campaign is going on without harsh words or indecent behavior. “The next week is very important,” the Chief Advisor said, expressing optimism that the election will be festive and women will participate in the vote with joy along with their families.
To enhance security, body-worn cameras have been installed in 25,700 of the approximately 43,000 polling stations across the country. During the meeting, the Chief Advisor randomly spoke directly to the officials in charge of a few centers about the effectiveness of the cameras.
In addition, the ‘Election Security App’ has been fully launched. Through this app, responsible officials and security forces can immediately send information about any violence or chaos to the Returning Officer, law enforcement agencies, and the Election Commission, so that quick intervention is possible.
The press secretary said that this technology has been tested and used during Durga Puja and has proven effective. The government’s hope, technology and preparation combined will make this election memorable in history.
