Leaders and activists of the Inquilab Mancha clashed with police during a sit-in at the Intercontinental Hotel in the capital demanding a UN-led investigation into the assassination of Shaheed Hadi. When the situation escalated on Friday afternoon, police used sound grenades, tear gas, water cannons and baton charges to disperse the protesters.
Inqilab Manch said that the organization’s secretary Abdullah Al Jaber was shot during the operation. At the same time, they alleged that DUCSU leader Fatima Tasnim Juma was hit with a police boot. These claims were highlighted in several posts on social media.
The program, which was held for the second consecutive day, was attended by leaders of the organization, including Shaheed Hadi’s wife Rabeya Islam Shampa. The Inqilab Mancha said that the movement will continue until the government makes an official announcement about the investigation under the UN and demanded that a letter be sent to the UN by Friday.
