Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that maintaining law and order in the country’s 180 million people is a very difficult task. He said that it takes time to control the speech of even a few people, while maintaining law and order in the entire country is not easy.
He made these remarks to reporters after exchanging views with law enforcement agencies at the Chittagong World Trade Center on Sunday. The Home Affairs Advisor said that the preparations of the law enforcement agencies for the upcoming national elections are satisfactory and if they work as planned, the elections will be fair, festive and impartial.
He also said that freedom of expression on social media is greater than ever before. He also commented that blocking Facebook or the internet is no longer acceptable. The Home Affairs Advisor also said that the army, BGB and police are working together to ensure election-related security.
