Less than 12 hours after announcing the price cut, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of gold again. The price of good quality gold has increased by a maximum of Tk 6,299 per baht, taking it to Tk 255,000. The new price came into effect from 12:15 pm on Friday.
According to the Bajus notification, the price of a 22-carat gold bhori is now 255,617 taka. Earlier, the highest price was 249,318 taka. 21-carat gold is being sold for 244,111 taka, 18-carat for 299,136 taka and traditional gold for 171,869 taka.
Bajus said that the sudden increase in the price of acidic gold in the international market has forced the local market to quickly readjust. The organization’s pricing committee chairman, Dr. Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, said that although the previous decision was taken due to the downward trend in the global market, the price started increasing rapidly later.
He cited the rising tensions between the United States and Iran as the reason behind this rise in the global market. According to GoldPrice.org, the price of gold per ounce in the international market exceeded $4,950 on Friday.
Meanwhile, the price of silver has also increased along with gold. The price of a 22-carat bhori of silver has been fixed at 6,882 taka.
