A formal complaint has been filed with the International Crimes Tribunal against 28 people, including former minister Jahangir Kabir Nanak and former mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, for crimes against humanity committed in the capital’s Mohammadpur during the July-August mass movement.
The prosecution submitted the formal charge to the Registrar’s Office of the International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Sunday. Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim said that based on the information and evidence collected during the investigation, the charges have been filed, identifying the atrocities committed in the Mohammadpur area as crimes against humanity.
The prosecution said a preliminary hearing on the charges could be held today.
