The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to suspend the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) indefinitely amid the stalemate caused by controversial comments about cricketers. It has been informed that the BPL will be stopped immediately if the cricketers do not take the field in the second match of the day on Thursday (January 15).
A BCB director confirmed the matter to the media. Earlier, the cricketers boycotted the first match of the day of the Dhaka leg of the BPL because M Nazmul Islam did not resign.
Meanwhile, M Nazmul Islam has been relieved of his post as the chairman of the BCB Finance Committee. A statement from the board said that he has been removed from his duties with immediate effect under the powers of the president as per Article 31 of the BCB constitution. The BCB president himself will serve as the acting chairman of the Finance Committee until further orders.
The BCB said that this decision has been taken to maintain the interests of the board and the normal pace of its activities.
