The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has relieved M Nazmul Islam from the post of BCB Finance Committee Chairman after facing severe criticism in the cricketing world for his controversial comments. BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul will serve as the acting chairman of the Finance Committee until further notice.
The BCB announced the decision in a press release on Thursday (January 15) afternoon. Nazmul Islam’s comments on the source of income and role of cricketers sparked criticism across the country. This led to anger from the BCB, national team cricketers and captains and demands for his resignation.
Under pressure, the BCB was finally forced to remove Nazmul Islam from his duties.
