The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police has arrested three people, including the main shooter, in the murder of Azizur Rahman Musabbir, former general secretary of the volunteer group Dhaka Metropolitan North. They were arrested in separate raids in Manikganj and Gazipur late on Friday (January 9) night.
A senior DB official said that the arrested include the main shooter in the case, Zeenat, and the suspected mastermind of the murder, Billal. The role of the remaining one is under investigation.
Earlier, Musabbir (45) was shot dead by miscreants in the alley of Star Hotel in Tejturi Bazar in the capital’s Karwan Bazar area at around 8:30 pm on Wednesday (January 7).
The deceased’s wife, Suraiya Begum, filed a murder case with Tejgaon Police Station as the plaintiff in the incident. Law enforcement officials said that efforts are underway to identify the main reason behind the murder and other involved parties through interrogation of the arrested persons.
