The ‘Indomitable Jabian Oikya’ panel, supported by Chhatra Shibir, has achieved an absolute victory in the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) elections. The panel won all three important posts – Vice President (VP), General Secretary (GS) and Assistant General Secretary (AGS).
Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Kaniz Fatima Kakoli announced the results of 38 constituencies of the central parliament at 11:30 pm on Wednesday (January 7).
According to the announced results, Riazul Islam, the candidate of the ‘Admya Jabian Oikya’ panel, won the VP post by getting 5,564 votes. His nearest rival, AKM Rakib, the candidate of the ‘Oikyabuddha Nirvik Jabian’ panel supported by the Chhatra Dal, got 4,688 votes. The difference in votes between the two candidates was 880.
For the post of General Secretary (GS), Shibir-backed candidate Abdul Alim Arif received 5,470 votes. On the other hand, Chhatra Dal-backed candidate Khadijatul Kubra received 2,203 votes. The margin for this post is 3,267 votes.
The Shibir-backed panel also won the post of Assistant General Secretary (AGS). Candidate Masud Rana received 5,02 votes. His nearest rival, Chhatra Dal-backed candidate BM Atiqur Tanzil, received 3,868 votes.
Those concerned believe that the election results clearly reflect the influence of the panel supported by the JACSU.
