BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is leaving for a four-day visit to North Bengal on January 11. BNP has said that the visit will mainly focus on religious and social programs and the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission will not be violated in any way.
The party said that it has already submitted an application to the Election Commission, the concerned Deputy Commissioners, and the district and upazila election officers regarding the tour.
According to the possible program, Tarique Rahman will leave Dhaka on January 11 and spend the night in Bogra via Tangail and Sirajganj. On January 12, he will stay in Thakurgaon from Bogra via Pirganj in Rangpur via Dinajpur. On January 13, he will stay in Rangpur via Panchagarh, Nilphamari and Lalmonirhat. On the last day of the tour, he is scheduled to return to Dhaka from Rangpur via Bogra on January 14.
BNP said that during the visit, Tarique Rahman will participate in the ziarat and doa mahfil of the graves of the martyrs of the July Uprising and the long democratic movement, including Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, Shaheed Abu Sayeed, and the late Taiba Majumdar. He will also pay a courtesy call on the injured July fighters and the family members of the martyrs.
