The world cricket governing body has responded positively to the email sent by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to the ICC expressing security concerns about not playing in India in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup. The BCB confirmed this information in a statement sent to the media on Wednesday.
The statement said that the ICC is seriously considering the BCB’s concerns regarding the safety and overall security of the Bangladesh national team on Indian soil. The possibility of changing the venue for the Bangladesh match, if necessary, is also being discussed, the statement said.
According to the BCB, the ICC has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the full and smooth participation of the Bangladesh team. At the same time, it has assured that the BCB’s opinions and recommendations will be seriously considered in the security plan for the tournament.
The BCB said that through this communication with the ICC, it has been possible to clearly state the board’s position on team safety and coordination will continue to determine the next steps according to the situation.
It is worth noting that earlier, Indian cricket-based website ESPN Cricinfo claimed in a report that the ICC had rejected Bangladesh’s request to host the match outside India due to security concerns and was also informed of the risk of losing points if they did not play in India. However, the BCB’s latest statement presented the ICC’s position as positive.
