The Ohio home of US Vice President J.D. Vance was attacked at midnight on Sunday, CNN reported on Monday (January 5).
Authorities said the attack damaged several parts of the residence, including windows. An adult male was arrested following the incident. His identity has not yet been released. The incident is under investigation.
The US Secret Service said Vice President Vance and his family were not at the residence at the time of the attack. They had left the city beforehand. Photos published by local media showed damage to windows.
Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the suspect was charged with property damage, including breaking an exterior window at Vance’s private residence. He said further legal action is being determined in coordination with the Cincinnati Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
A federal law enforcement official said they were investigating whether the attacker was targeting Vice President Vance or his family.
