Family members of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia went to Zia Udyan to pay their respects at her grave the day after her burial. Close relatives of the family, including granddaughter Zaima Rahman, arrived there at around 10:30 am on Friday (January 2).
During the grave visit, family members stood next to the grave, recited the Holy Quran and participated in prayers. After staying there for about 20 minutes, they left Zia Udyan. Other family members at the time included Shamila Rahman, wife of the late Arafat Rahman Koko, his daughter Zahia Rahman and relatives.
Although the grave has been open to the general public since the Fajr prayer, visitors were temporarily closed for about an hour to allow family members to arrive.
Earlier in the day, BNP leaders and activists and common people also paid their respects and prayers at Khaleda Zia’s grave. It is worth noting that Khaleda Zia died while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the capital on Tuesday. After the funeral prayer on Wednesday, she was buried next to the grave of her husband, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan.
