Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has removed 148 tons of waste accumulated in the 300 feet area of the capital after a public reception organized to mark the return of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman to his homeland.
DNCC spokesperson Jobayer Hossain said on Friday (December 26) that DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz ordered a quick cleanup operation immediately after the rally ended. As per that instruction, the city corporation launched a special operation in the morning.
350 workers participated in this cleanup operation. The waste collected in 148 trips by 20 trucks was dumped at the Aminbazar landfill. By noon, the entire area was made suitable for public movement.
DNCC said that since morning, some local BNP leaders and activists voluntarily participated in the work with the cleaning workers. Administrator Mohammad Ejaz expressed gratitude to the cleaning workers and volunteers who worked in the cold, saying that only a collective effort can keep the city clean and livable after a large crowd.
A large number of people attended this public gathering, held to celebrate Tarique Rahman’s return to the country after 17 years, as a result of which the DNCC took immediate action to quickly remove the waste created.
