Dhaka — BNP is going to start a special cleaning campaign to remove waste accumulated on July 36 Expressway (300 feet), Airport Road and adjacent areas in Purbachal of the capital.
Leaders and activists of Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP will participate in this activity on a voluntary basis from Friday (December 26) morning.
The program was announced in a post on the verified Facebook page of the BNP media cell at 10:30 pm on Thursday. It said that the waste created in the expressway and airport areas as a result of the mass rally organized to mark the return of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman to his homeland after 17 years will be cleaned up quickly in the public interest.
Yesterday afternoon, hundreds of thousands of leaders and activists gathered on both sides of the road to catch a glimpse of Tarique Rahman on his way from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to the 300 feet area of Purbachal. The nearly six and a half kilometer long route turned into a sea of people. Later, he addressed a public reception organized there.
BNP Acting Chairman’s Advisor Mahdi Amin also confirmed the cleaning activities in a separate Facebook post. He said that work to remove all waste generated on the July 36 Expressway, Airport Road and surrounding areas will begin from Friday morning.
Mahdi Amin thanked the leaders, activists and volunteers who participated in this initiative in advance. He also expressed gratitude to everyone who participated in Thursday’s public rally.
