Dhaka—Bangladesh Bank has purchased another 60 million US dollars through an auction process to strengthen the country’s foreign exchange supply. The dollars were collected from four commercial banks on Sunday (December 21).
Bangladesh Bank Executive Director and Spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan said that the highest bid per dollar in the multiple price auction method was 122.30 taka, which was also determined as the cut-off rate.
This is the central bank’s third large dollar purchase this month. Previously, $67 million was purchased from seven banks on December 17 and $141.5 million from 13 banks on December 15.
In total, the central bank has raised about $2.93 billion through auctions so far in the 2025-26 fiscal year. The auction process, which began on July 13, is seen by those concerned as an important strategy to stabilize foreign exchange reserves.
