A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight has departed for Dhaka carrying the body of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, who died while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
Flight BG-385 departed from Changi International Airport at 2:03 pm Bangladesh time on Friday (December 19).
Biman Bangladesh Airlines officials said the flight is scheduled to land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at around 5:50 pm. All necessary formalities and security measures have been taken to bring the body home.
Osman Hadi died while undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital around 9:45 pm on Thursday. Tensions and protests erupted in various areas of the capital after news of his death reached Dhaka.
Earlier, on December 12, he was seriously injured in a motorcycle-borne gunshot during an election campaign in Bijoynagar, the capital. After receiving initial treatment in Dhaka, he was taken to Singapore for advanced treatment.
