7 members of the same family, including a woman and a child, were burned in an explosion caused by a gas leak at a house in Agargaon, Dhaka, early on Saturday. They were admitted to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Saturday morning.
The injured are Md. Abdul Jalil Mia (50), his wife Arneja Begum (40), sons Asif (19), Shakib (16), Asif’s wife Monira (17) and granddaughters Eva (6) and Isha (6) from Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur.
Officials at the DMCH police camp said the condition of the injured is being assessed and the extent of the burns has not yet been determined. The concerned police station has been informed about the incident.
Although a gas line leak was blamed as the initial cause of the fire, a detailed investigation is underway.
