BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s scheduled trip to London for advanced medical treatment has been postponed again. This is the third time that the delay has occurred due to both the delay in the arrival of the air ambulance and her unstable physical condition.
ABM Abdus Sattar, the Chairperson’s private secretary, said that no new date has been finalized yet. She could be taken any day if the air ambulance arrives.
A member of the BNP medical team said that Khaleda Zia’s condition has been almost the same for the past few days. Whether she is in a condition to withstand the stress of flying is also being considered. A party source said that the new air ambulance, managed by Qatar, was supposed to arrive in Dhaka on December 6. Later, the time was changed to December 9 and it was expected to leave for London on the morning of December 10.
Earlier, he was supposed to be taken to London on Friday morning under special arrangements by the Emir of Qatar. But the plan was postponed due to technical glitches in the air ambulance. Then, the BNP informed that if everything goes well, the ambulance could reach Dhaka on Saturday and the journey could be possible on Sunday—if his physical condition permits.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the flight schedule depends entirely on Khaleda Zia’s physical condition.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23 after going to the hospital for a routine checkup. On November 27, when her condition deteriorated, she was transferred to the CCU. Later, international experts also joined her treatment.
Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, 79, has been suffering from liver cirrhosis, heart disease, kidney, lung, eye complications, diabetes and arthritis for a long time.
