The price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has been increased again in the country’s consumer market. The retail price of a 12-kg gas cylinder for the month of December has increased by Tk 38 from Tk 1,215 to Tk 1,253.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) announced the price revision on Tuesday, which took effect immediately.
Along with the new price, the price of autogas has also been increased – from Tk 55.58 per liter to Tk 57.32 per liter .
Just a month earlier, BERC had reduced the price of a 12-kg cylinder by Tk 26 in its November announcement . But the commission said the December increase was due to price fluctuations in the international market and changes in import costs.
It is feared that the new price will put additional pressure on everything from transportation costs to household cooking costs in cities and rural areas.
