International assistance is expanding for the treatment of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. After the Chinese expert team, doctors from the UK are also coming to Dhaka. They are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Wednesday.
Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, confirmed the matter at a briefing in front of Evercare Hospital on Tuesday afternoon. He said that considering the patient’s current condition, various countries have shown interest in providing medical assistance – including the United States, China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and India.
A five-member Chinese medical team arrived in Dhaka on Monday and participated in a meeting with the Evercare Medical Board. However, no BNP leader agreed to comment on the matter.
Dr. Zahid said, “Experts are monitoring Khaleda Zia. If they think it is possible and necessary to transfer the patient abroad, a decision will be taken immediately. All preparations are in place, but the advice of the medical board is final here.”
Khaleda Zia, 79, suffers from various complications including arthritis, diabetes, kidney problems, liver cirrhosis and heart disease. She was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23.
