The interim government has appointed new Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) in 77 more upazilas across the country. The Ministry of Public Administration confirmed the appointments of these officers with the rank of Senior Assistant Secretary in eight separate notifications on Monday.
In this regard, new UNOs were appointed in 243 upazilas in the past week; UNOs were transferred in 166 upazilas in the first phase on November 26.
The latest notification has announced the appointment of new UNOs in 18 upazilas in Dhaka division, 4 in Barisal, 7 in Chittagong, 12 in Khulna, 11 in Rangpur, 14 in Rajshahi, 8 in Sylhet and 3 upazilas in Mymensingh division.
The newly appointed officers have been asked to join their respective workplaces by December 4. If they do not join on the scheduled date, they will be automatically considered relieved of their current positions.
According to concerned officials, this massive reshuffle is being made as part of the administrative reorganization ahead of the next national parliamentary elections.
