BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s physical condition has not improved, said Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the party’s senior joint secretary general. Addressing an emergency press conference in Nayapaltan on Sunday, he said that Khaleda Zia is still in critical condition, and the medical board has not given a final opinion on taking her abroad.
Rizvi said any decision regarding treatment will depend on the board’s recommendations. “There is no change in the situation at the moment. It is not possible to make a decision to send him abroad without the board’s advice,” he said.
Considering Khaleda Zia’s condition, it has been decided to suspend all BNP programs throughout the month of December. The party has appealed to the countrymen to pray for her recovery.
Expressing concern over the crowd of leaders, activists and ordinary people in front of the hospital, Rizvi said that this crowd is disrupting medical activities. He requested everyone to pray from their respective places.
He mentioned that doctors are in regular contact with BNP leaders. Party acting chairman Tarique Rahman is also concerned about the situation and is always in contact as a family member, Rizvi said.
