Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is in Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail and is healthy, the prison authorities have confirmed, following rumors of his secret transfer that spread on social media on Wednesday.
In a statement, officials said Imran was “completely healthy and receiving the necessary treatment.” Prison authorities said reports of his illness or his transfer were “baseless.”
After being ousted in a no-confidence vote in 2022, Imran faced multiple cases, including allegations of corruption, leaking state documents, and an attack on army headquarters. He has been imprisoned since August 2023 after various dramas.
Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has claimed that Imran Khan is receiving “maximum facilities” in prison. According to him, the former prime minister’s food menu “beats even five-star hotels.” The prison also has a television, exercise equipment and a double bed for him.
