The interim government has restructured the Superintendents of Police (SPs) of 64 districts of the country ahead of the 13th National Parliament elections. The SPs were selected through a lottery at the residence of the Chief Advisor in Jamuna on Monday . The notification of their posting was issued on Wednesday.
Police headquarters sources said that Acting IGP and DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali, high-ranking officials of the Home Ministry and representatives of the Chief Advisor’s Office were present during the lottery.
In the process of posting, officers who had served as SPs in the past were excluded. Then, a list was prepared by scrutinizing and selecting officers from the 25th, 27th and 28th batches of the police cadre. 64 people were selected through a lottery from among the listed officers.
The interim government says that this new SP panel has been formed to ensure impartiality and professionalism at the district level in carrying out election duties.
