International Crimes Tribunal prosecutor Gazi M.H. Tamim has announced that the process to issue an Interpol Red Notice has begun to bring back former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, both sentenced to death for crimes against humanity in the July violence.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday afternoon, he said that certified copies of the verdict are being sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam, and state witness and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun through the central jail authorities.
Prosecutor Tamim added that if the convicts wish to challenge the tribunal’s verdict, they must surrender and file an appeal with the Appellate Division within 30 days. If they fail to do so, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will notify Interpol of their death sentence, prompting the issuance of the Red Notice.
