In response to recent bomb attacks and arson incidents on roads and at various locations across the capital and the country, the Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association (BRTMA) issued an urgent press statement condemning the acts of terrorism. The statement was sent to various media outlets yesterday evening by the association’s Vice President Rezaur Rahman Tapon.
The statement directly holds the fugitive top leaders of a recently banned political party responsible for the fire-related violence. It strongly condemns the banned party for attempts to destabilize the country and for carrying out destructive activities under the guise of political programs. The ongoing incidents, especially targeting public transport, have caused severe damage and created immense suffering for ordinary citizens.
The association’s leaders urged the government and administrative authorities to stop all such lawless activities on the roads and ensure the safety of people and their property. They also called for preventive measures against organized attacks in the future and emphasized bringing the leaders and activists of the terrorist organization to justice under the law.
The statement was signed by Sohrab Hossain, Aslam Chowdhury, Ariful Islam, Russell Chowdhury, Azmir Hossain, Zahurul Islam, Shamim Hossain, Shibly Chowdhury, Abu, and others.
The leaders also requested that normal vehicular movement be maintained across the country and assured full cooperation with the government and administrative authorities.
