Bangladesh has expressed concern over former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina—currently residing in New Delhi—being allowed to appear on mainstream Indian media. Dhaka stated that such actions are not conducive to maintaining friendly relations between the two neighboring countries.
On Wednesday (November 12) morning, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner Pavan Badhe to formally lodge a protest. During the meeting, the Director General of the South Asia Wing said that the media presence of a fugitive former prime minister in Delhi could harm the atmosphere of Bangladesh–India relations.
Bangladesh further stated that providing shelter to an individual accused of crimes against humanity and allowing her to deliver anti-Bangladesh statements is detrimental to bilateral ties. The government has requested New Delhi to take immediate measures to stop Sheikh Hasina’s appearances in Indian media.
