Out of the 23 judges appointed as additional judges in the High Court after the July uprising, 22 have been granted permanent appointments, while the appointment of one judge has not been confirmed.
On Tuesday (11 November), the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs issued a notification regarding the permanent appointments following the directive of the President. These appointments were made in consultation with the Chief Justice under Article 95 of the Constitution.
The appointment of Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury was not made permanent; he is the son of BNP leader Nitai Roy Chowdhury.
These judges were initially appointed as additional judges on 8 October of last year and took their oaths the following day, making their appointments effective.
The judges granted permanent appointments include Md. Golam Mortuza Majumdar, Syed Enayet Hossain, Md. Monsur Alam, Syed Zahed Monsur, K.M. Rasheduzzaman Raja, Md. Jabid Hossain, Mubina Asaf, Qazi Waliul Islam, Ainun Nahar Siddika, Md. Abdul Mannan, Tamanna Rahman, Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud, Md. Hamidur Rahman, Nasrin Akter, Sathika Hossain, Syed Mohammad Tajrul Hossain, Md. Tawfiq Inam, Yusuf Abdullah Sumon, Sheikh Tahsin Ali, Foyez Ahmed, Md. Sagir Hossain, and Shikdar Mahmudur Razi.
