Today, November 6, marks the birthday of the powerful Bangladeshi actor, Anwar Hossain, famously known as the “Crownless Nawab” of Bangladeshi cinema. He was born on November 6, 1931, in Melandah, Jamalpur district. He earned the title “Crownless Nawab” through his role in the film Nawab Sirajuddoula.
Anwar Hossain passed away in 2013. Over his illustrious career, he acted in more than 250 films, including notable works such as Kacher Dewal, Bondhon, Raja Sannyasi, Nawab Sirajuddoula, Oporajeyo, Sat Bhai Champa, Jibon Theke Neya, Arunodoyer Agnisakhi, Rongbaz, Dheere Bohe Meghna, Lathiyal, Palong, Rupali Soikote, Nayonmoni, Kuasha, Nagardola, Golapi Ekhon Trene, Surjo Songram, Boro Bhalo Lok Chhilo, and Bhat De.
For his outstanding contributions to acting, he received the National Film Award, Lifetime Achievement Award, Ekushey Padak, and numerous other accolades.
