On Wednesday (November 5) at around 9:30 a.m., five people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway in Chakaria. The front sections of both vehicles were completely crushed in the accident at the Segunbagan area.
Malumghat Highway Police In-Charge Md. Mehedi Hasan said the victims were all tourists from Chouddagram, Comilla. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.
Police stated that the microbus from Comilla collided with the bus while negotiating a dangerous bend after passing the Fashiakhali military camp. The injured have been taken to Upazila Health Complex and other hospitals for treatment.
The accident temporarily halted traffic on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway for about an hour, but normal traffic resumed around 10:30 a.m. after the vehicles were removed from the road.
