In connection with two separate cases filed over the anti-discrimination movement in Dhaka, Nazrul Islam Majumder, Chairman of NASA Group, and Arif Hasan, former Managing Director of Desh TV, have been shown arrested.
On Monday (November 3), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana issued the order after a hearing. Nazrul Islam Majumder was shown arrested in the Gulshan murder case involving the death of Kamal Hossain, while Arif Hasan was shown arrested in the Kotwali attempted murder case.
During the hearing, both appeared in court and made brief statements before the judge ordered them to be sent to jail.
According to the case documents, on July 19 last year, during the anti-discrimination movement at Shahjadpur, Gulshan, protester Kamal Hossain was shot dead. A murder case was later filed at Gulshan Police Station on July 7 this year.
In the second case, on August 5 last year, during a protest near the CMM Court in Kotwali, Rofaed Hasan was seriously injured by gunfire. Despite receiving treatment at Mitford Hospital, he remains in poor physical and mental condition. In connection with the incident, Nayan Hossain filed an attempted murder case on November 14 last year.
