The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has urged all individual taxpayers to submit their income tax returns through the e-return system by November 30. The authority made the call in an official circular issued on Saturday.
According to the NBR, since the submission of income tax returns online was made mandatory this fiscal year, over one million taxpayers have already filed their returns through the e-return system.
However, if any taxpayer faces registration or technical issues while submitting returns online, they may apply to the respective Deputy Tax Commissioner by November 15, citing specific reasons. Upon approval from the Additional or Joint Tax Commissioner, such taxpayers will be allowed to submit paper-based returns.
Currently, Bangladesh has around 11.2 million Tax Identification Number (TIN) holders, but only about 4 million taxpayers regularly submit their returns each year, according to the NBR.
