Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Election Commission (EC) will release the final list of polling centers on Monday. In addition, the registration of new political parties will be completed within this week, according to EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
After a meeting with Commonwealth representatives at the Election Commission office in Agargaon, Dhaka on Sunday, he told reporters that the final list of polling centers has been prepared. Some proposals for corrections were received and have been incorporated, and the list will be briefed on Monday morning.
Regarding the registration of new political parties, some additional information from the field is under review and will be finalized within this week. However, no final decision has yet been made on the symbol allocation for the National Citizens’ Party.
The EC Secretary also said that it is not possible to complete 100% of the commission’s work according to schedule. Some tasks have already been completed, some required waiting, and some need temporary adjustments. He added that there is no reason for panic or concern.
It is worth noting that on Saturday night, a cocktail explosion occurred near the south side of the Election Commission building. The police have detained one person, and the EC will file a case if necessary.
During the meeting, discussions also took place on voter registration for expatriates, misuse of technology, and election-time security with the Commonwealth delegation.
