Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has said that the BNP is creating unnecessary complications by proposing a referendum on the same day as the national election.
He made this comment on Wednesday evening (October 22) after a meeting with the Chief Adviser of the interim government, Professor Muhammad Yunus, at the state guest house, Jamuna.
Dr. Taher stated, “If the referendum is held in November, there will be sufficient time to prepare for the February national election.”
Other members of the Jamaat delegation included the party’s Secretary General and former Member of Parliament Professor Mia Golam Porwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana A.T.M. Masum, and Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan.
Earlier, on Tuesday (October 21), a three-member BNP delegation also met with the Chief Adviser. The delegation included BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee members Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, and Salahuddin Ahmed.
