Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Land, A.S.M. Saleh Ahmed, has emphasized that honesty, responsibility, and patriotism among public servants are essential for the nation’s development and progress. He said these three qualities form the foundation of human character and serve as the key driving forces behind a nation’s advancement.
He made these remarks on Tuesday (October 21) while presiding over the monthly coordination meeting held at the Ministry of Land.
The Senior Secretary stated that it is necessary to establish a transparent, efficient, modern, and sustainable land management system to ensure the best possible use of land resources and deliver citizen-friendly land services. He also highlighted the importance of utilizing science and information technology to modernize land management, protect agricultural land, improve the environment, ensure food security, and alleviate poverty to achieve sustainable socio-economic development.
He further said that planned use of non-agricultural land, reducing climate risks, and resolving land-related issues will help create a livable environment for both current and future generations. To achieve this, he urged officials to work with dedication and professionalism at all levels.
Highlighting the value of patriotism, Saleh Ahmed said, “Patriotism is a feeling that binds a citizen to their country and people with respect, love, and responsibility. A true patriot never engages in corruption, injustice, or anti-national activities. Instead, they obey the law, perform their duties honestly, and contribute to the development of society and the state.”
He added that patriotism is reflected in everyday actions—performing one’s duties sincerely, protecting national assets, preserving culture and the environment, and contributing to national progress. Therefore, he stressed the importance of inspiring the younger generation to embrace patriotism as a guiding principle of life. “A prosperous Bangladesh built on technology, education, and morality will be the true symbol of patriotism,” he remarked.
The meeting was also attended by A.K.M. Salahuddin Nagari, Chairman of the Land Reform Board; Dr. Mahmud Hasan, Chairman of the Land Appeal Board; Md. Saidur Rahman, Director General of the Land Record and Survey Department; and other senior officials of the ministry.
