Following recent devastating fire incidents, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MauShi) has issued a directive urging all educational institutions across the country to remain vigilant. The advisory covers government and private schools, colleges, and field-level education offices to prevent fire accidents.
On Sunday (19 October), the directive, signed by MauShi’s Assistant Director of Administration Md. Khalid Hossain, instructed that all electrical switches, lights, fans, and computers must be turned off before leaving offices or classrooms, and air conditioner plugs should be disconnected. Teachers, officers, and staff are urged to check these measures and act responsibly.
This warning comes after a series of recent fire tragedies that caused loss of life and extensive damage. Notable incidents include the chemical warehouse fire in Shialbari, Mirpur, which killed 16 people, a 17-hour-long fire at a towel factory in Chittagong EPZ, and most recently, a massive fire at the cargo section of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
