The Election Commission (EC) has sat in a meeting with law enforcement agencies to review the law and order situation ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, aiming to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election.
The meeting began at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the Election Commission headquarters, with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A.M.M. Nasir Uddin presiding. Representatives from the three armed forces, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), chiefs of other law enforcement agencies, election commissioners, and senior EC officials were present.
According to EC sources, the meeting discussed key challenges and action plans for the election. The Commission has already identified a dozen major challenges, including ensuring the safety of polling stations and officials, maintaining peace in electoral areas, protecting communal harmony and minority communities, coordinating law enforcement operations, controlling illegal weapons, combating misinformation on social media through technological manipulation, deploying armed forces for election security, preventing infiltration, ensuring the safety of election offices at regional and local levels, transporting election materials to remote and hilly areas, and banning the use of drone cameras during the election period.
