In Armanitola’s Panir Pump Lane in Old Dhaka, Zubayed Hossain, a postgraduate student of the Statistics Department at Jagannath University and a member of the university’s Chhatra Dal executive committee, was stabbed to death. He also served as the president of the Comilla District Student Welfare Association.
On Sunday evening (October 19), police from Banshal Thana recovered his body. The incident was confirmed by Banshal Thana Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam, who said that Zubayed was killed by stabbing. The body was recovered from a house where Zubayed used to tutor students. The exact cause of death has not yet been confirmed, and an investigation is underway.
Jagannath University Proctor Professor Dr. Mohammad Tajammul Haque stated that he immediately went to the scene upon hearing the news. The police initially believe the death was caused by stabbing. Law enforcement has been instructed to collect nearby CCTV footage, which is currently being gathered.
