Voting for the Chittagong University Central Student Council (CUCSC) and Hall Councils concluded on Wednesday (October 15), after running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Following the voting, preparations for counting the votes are now underway. This election used paper ballots, which will be counted using the OMR (Optical Mark Reader) system. The results will be displayed live on 14 LED screens.
Chief Election Commissioner Professor Dr. Monir Uddin stated that the voting was conducted smoothly in a festive atmosphere. While there were some isolated complaints, no major issues were reported. By 3:00 PM, approximately 55% of registered voters had cast their votes.
This year, the total number of registered voters is 27,517. Voting took place across five faculties and 15 halls in 60 rooms with a total of 689 booths.
According to the Election Commission, a total of 908 candidates contested both the central and hall council elections. Of these, 415 candidates, including 13 panels and independent candidates, ran for the central council, while 493 candidates competed for the hall and hostel councils.
