The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (MauShi) is being divided into two separate directorates: the Directorate of Secondary Education and the Directorate of College Education. The decision has been approved by the Chief Adviser, according to the Ministry of Education.
The information was revealed in an official order signed on Sunday (October 12) by Senior Assistant Secretary Sifat Uddin of the Ministry. To establish the two new directorates, a six-member committee has been formed to prepare separate organograms and work allocations. The committee has been instructed to submit the completed proposals to the ministry within 30 days.
The committee will be chaired by the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education’s Secondary and Higher Education Division (Government Secondary Directorate), with the Deputy Secretary/Senior Assistant Secretary (Government Secondary-1) serving as member secretary. Other members include the Deputy Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division (Government College-1), representatives from the Ministry of Public Administration and the Finance Division’s Expenditure Management/Implementation Subdivision, as well as the relevant Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors from the existing directorate.
The committee’s responsibilities include drafting the allocation of business for the new directorates according to the Rules of Business, 1996, preparing the organizational structure (organogram), assigning work distribution, and determining the table of officials and equipment (TO&E).
Government sources say the restructuring is expected to improve efficiency and transparency in managing secondary and college education.
