Parents are facing difficulties due to the complicated registration process for the typhoid vaccine. To receive the vaccine, they must complete a four-step process—first, online registration through the VaxEPI website; second, enrollment under the TCV program; third, downloading the vaccination card; and finally, visiting the designated center to show the card and get the vaccine.
Many people find this process overly complex. Even the Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025 is being conducted through the same system, which has become a major concern for parents.
On the VaxEPI website, filling in the date of birth, birth registration number, gender, and captcha code is mandatory. Those without a birth certificate are unable to register.
Shahinur Islam, an employee at a private firm in Dhaka, said, “My child doesn’t have a birth certificate, so I can’t complete the registration. If I, being educated, can’t do it, how will children from rural areas manage?”
Tanmay Rahman, a resident of Mirpur, added, “It’s difficult to find the school name on the website, so I had to register using the area name instead. Many people also can’t download or print the vaccination card.”
Parents fear that many children will miss out on the vaccine due to the complicated registration system.
However, during the National Advocacy Meeting of the Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025, Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum said, “Every child must receive the typhoid vaccine, whether they have a birth certificate or not. The registration process should not be burdensome—it must be simple, free, and accessible to all. People need to understand that vaccination is not a luxury, but a necessity for survival.
