Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country has returned to normal. On Tuesday (October 7) at around 9:30 a.m., the Kalni Express departed Sylhet for Dhaka, marking the resumption of regular train services.
Earlier in the morning, train communication was suspended after the Udayan Express derailed, with its engine and four carriages veering off the tracks near Mogalbazar, around 6:40 a.m.
According to Mogalbazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shamsul Habib, the Chattogram-bound Udayan Express derailed on the western side of the Meghna Petroleum Limited oil depot. Upon receiving the news, the railway authorities, railway police, and local police quickly reached the scene and launched a rescue operation.
After several hours of effort, the rescue work was completed, and train operations were restored. Railway officials confirmed that all trains, including the Dhaka-bound Kalni Express, are now running on schedule.
