The dengue outbreak continues across the country. In the last 24 hours (from 8 AM Saturday to 8 AM Sunday), dengue claimed the lives of 9 more people, while 1,040 new patients were admitted to hospitals.
The information was confirmed in a regular bulletin issued on Sunday (October 5) by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the bulletin, the newly admitted patients include 195 in Barishal, 104 in Chattogram, 201 in Dhaka Division (outside the city corporations), 198 in Dhaka North City, 121 in Dhaka South City, 72 in Khulna, 41 in Mymensingh, 82 in Rajshahi, 23 in Rangpur, and 5 in Sylhet.
During the same period, 898 patients were discharged after recovery. So far this year, a total of 47,256 dengue patients have recovered and returned home.
DGHS data shows that in 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue, and 575 died. In the previous year, 2023, the country witnessed the worst-ever dengue outbreak, with 321,179 cases and 1,705 deaths.
