Awami League Advisory Council member and veteran politician Tofail Ahmed has been admitted to Square Hospital in Dhaka as his health condition deteriorated further. He was taken to the hospital on Sunday afternoon.
Family sources confirmed that his only daughter, Taslima Ahmed Jaman Munni, and her husband, physician Dr. Touhiduzzaman Tuhin, are taking care of him. Relatives said that nearly three years ago, Tofail Ahmed suffered a brain hemorrhage, after which he contracted COVID-19. He was later infected multiple times. Since then, his memory has almost completely faded.
Former MP Dr. Touhiduzzaman Tuhin earlier told the media that following a stroke, Tofail Ahmed sleeps about 18 hours a day on average and no longer recognizes people. His left arm and leg have also been paralyzed.
