Agriculture and Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that fertilizer prices will not be increased during his tenure.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday at the Secretariat, he said, “Fertilizer prices have not been raised, nor will they be. Law enforcement agencies have been tasked with preventing fertilizer smuggling.”
He further stated that a new fertilizer policy has already been drafted and will soon be placed before the National Committee for final approval. Significant changes are being introduced in the dealership system under this policy.
Responding to concerns about gas price hikes by Petrobangla, he assured that even if gas prices rise, fertilizer prices will remain unchanged. “As long as I am in charge, fertilizer prices will not go up,” the Adviser emphasized.
