At an event held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, Bangladesh’s Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus had a courtesy meeting with Queen Mathilde of Belgium. At the same event, former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva also met separately with Yunus.
Professor Yunus arrived in New York on September 22 at 3:00 PM local time to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. He landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport on a commercial Emirates flight with his delegation.
Diplomatic sources say these meetings are considered highly significant for Bangladesh, as they are expected to strengthen the country’s global standing and diplomatic relations. Yunus is also scheduled to meet top leaders from various countries and deliver speeches at multiple international sessions during the UN assembly.
