Students of seven colleges have warned of tough programs if the government does not issue an ordinance declaring the institutions as a central university by next Monday (22 September).
The announcement came at a press conference organized by the students on Thursday (17 September) at the Shaheed Minar of Dhaka College. They stated that the long-standing problems could only be resolved by recognizing the seven colleges as a central university.
The students alleged that since 2017, teachers have not stood by them; instead, whenever initiatives are taken to solve the problems, teachers try to create obstacles. They emphasized that no permanent solution is possible without an ordinance.
They further claimed that threats were being made to reduce students’ exam results if they join the movement. The students, therefore, urged the government to take swift action.
